The difficulties encountered — in the near term in particular — in analysing the likely supply/demand balance for commodities and currencies cannot be over-emphasised and it is undoubtedly for this reason, as much as any, that techical analysis has long been popular in the commodity markets and has now.

By Xavier Fustero on October 6, This is a classical text on technical analysis written in The author had already a 15 years experience when writting this book that has been a refrence book for years.

The author provided an update and revision of this text on that I studied. I was interested in reading the first version and make a comparison between the two texts. Any of them is a very clear and complete exposition of techical analysis. I is suited, in my opinion for begginers as well as for experienced traders. Was this review helpful to you? By Amazon Customer on November 13, Murphy is well known and one for the library!

By Matthew Laurel Olson on August 17, The bible of technical analysis of commodities. The only book you need to read on technical analysis. Except doesn't include the cup and handle formation that is the king of formations.

Technical analysis doesn't always work, that's why you have to get a sense of the fundamentals of a market also. By KR on September 25, This book was recommended to me by a fellow trader who swore by the information included here. I have to say that this is by far the most inclusive book I own that covers technical analysis and chart patterns. The author does give nice explanations of why he thinks some of these patterns show up and the psychology behind them.

I reference the book often during day trading when I notice a rare pattern that I remember seeing Murphy discuss but I don't remember the details.

I guess this is the way I would promote this book, as a decent reference for chart patterns that should be in a traders library. I don't believe that it will help someone learn to trade as it does not give that type of instruction but it can give a bit of assistance to someone who has a system they are looking to improve with consistent technical analysis.

Kayumbi on September 28, What's there to say! It's the best food for Futures enthusiasts of all skills level. By Agrippa's Epiphany on May 26, This a a work which drives markets in the effects the underlying decision-making of a large swath of the trading community.

It is light reading and a must-read! By Troy McGhee on April 17, Great book at a bargain price. Not finished reading but seems like a valuable read for investors in the market. By Fish on October 23, Murphy starts with a history of the futures markets and leads into charting, patterns, trendlines and on into some of the more common techincal indicators. This book should be the bible for traders who are just getting there feet wet and then used as a reference later. There is no technical jargon that gives the reader the impression that this book is too advanced.

Clear and easy to follow historic charts illustrate all of the concepts mentioned. This book should be on every traders bookshelf. See all 25 reviews. Most recent customer reviews 2.
